Sacramento – Today Campaigns & Elections Magazine named Robin Swanson, political consultant at Kaufman Campaign Consultants (KCC), a “Rising Star of Politics” for 2007. The magazine chose 10 Democrats, 10 Republicans and 5 non-partisan leaders from across the nation to receive the award. According to C&E, recipients are people 35 or under “who have already made a significant mark in political consulting or advocacy.”
Past Rising Stars have included Paul Begala, Ed Gillespie, Alexis Herman, Karen Hughes, Laura Ingraham, Jim Pinkerton, Ralph Reed and George Stephanopoulos, to name just a few.
Swanson has worked on a number of successful campaigns at Kaufman Campaign Consultants:
In 2006, despite polls continually showing California ’s statewide education bond (Prop. 1D) lagging, Swanson worked with a coalition of communications directors to help deliver a winning message both internally within unions and participating organizations and externally in the media.
During the same year, she also served as spokesperson for No on Prop. 89, helping to secure an overwhelming 50-point defeat. The measure received intense media coverage, and Swanson appeared in numerous televised and radio debates on the subject.
Swanson’s communications and earned media work in 2005 for the Alliance for a Better California helped the coalition of nearly 2.5 million union members receive unprecedented media attention and worked to defeat all of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ballot propositions.
Swanson also served as Consultant and Spokesperson for Assemblymember Nicole Parra’s successful re-election, the number one targeted Assembly race in the state (2004), and for Jack O’Connell for State Superintendent of Public Instruction (2002).
Swanson also writes a political blog for Sacramento’s News10 and appears as a “Democratic Strategist,” on both local and national news programs.
Prior to working at KCC, Swanson worked on Capitol Hill for six years. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs and received a Master’s Degree in Government from Johns Hopkins University. Swanson will be featured in the June issue of Campaigns & Elections Magazine, along with the other “Rising Stars” from around the country.
Gale Kaufman and all of the staff at Kaufman Campaign Consultants would like to congratulate Robin on this well deserved honor.
